Tutorific makes a positive difference in many ways.
Every student here helps us help the world.
We proudly use a portion of each tuition for our philanthropic endeavors.
Take a look at some of the reasons we're unlike other tutoring companies. Not only do we charge as little as possible in order to make our excellent tutoring available for as many local families as we can, we also fund a variety of projects which we believe make a positive difference for families here and outside our community. Here are just a few of many:
NASA’s “Summer of Discovery”
Tutorific worked closely with Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color in space, to host The Earth We Share for the first time in Ventura County. This NASA-sponsored international summer camp was entirely free to its participants and included space-related projects & a presentation to special guests at the flight museum.
In just the last few years, Tutorific has provided many thousands of dollars in full & partial scholarships from our own funds to sponsor extreme-low-income families from over a dozen local school districts. Applicants must be on their school's free-lunch program, be in grades K-1, and have a learning disability.
Foster Children Scholarships
We have a long history of providing free tutoring to foster children & youth in our local schools. We are very proud to have worked closely with social workers and guardians, and to have tutored hundreds of these wonderful kids from every grade, K – 12.
We’ve been part of multiple California Foster Youth Summits and our executive director has participated in legislative presentations in our State's Capital to raise awareness of foster youth and kinship issues faced by families in Ventura County.
Special Education Grants
We are known for our success with special needs children. Full and partial scholarships are available from us for low-income families with fairly-severe-yet-trainable autistic children in grades K-2. This wonderful program focuses on early reading & math skills, and cognitive development.
…And this is just some of what we do to improve kids’ lives. It’s also a clear example of how different we are from other profit-based tutoring companies, and how deeply committed we are to children and their families.
Become a Volunteer Tutor and change a life for the better.
Would you like to become a Volunteer Tutor to one or more of our absolutely wonderful low-income, migrant, or foster youth? If you are a credentialed teacher and/or have a wealth of tutoring experience, excellent references, and want to make a positive difference, let us know. (All Volunteers are cleared through the Department of Justice and are trained at the same high level as our paid teachers. Some teachers do both paid and volunteer work. What about you?)
